macOS Installation Guide

Genymotion Desktop cannot run in virtual machines.

Server systems are not supported.

Rosetta must be enabled on mac M1 and M2 series.

Supported versions

Genymotion Desktop has been tested on the following macOS versions:

  • Sonoma (14)
  • Ventura (13)

Hypervisor

3.3.0

Genymotion Desktop requires an hypervisor to run the Android system. Since Genymotion Desktop 3.3.0, it is possible to choose between QEMU or VirtualBox.

VirtualBox is not available on Mac M1 and M2.

From Genymotion Desktop 3.3.0 onwards, QEMU is included with Genymotion. This build uses Hypervisor which is already installed in macOS by default.

There is nothing to install if you choose QEMU hypervisor.

VirtualBox is not included in our DMG package and needs to be installed prior to Genymotion Desktop:

  1. Download VirtualBox 7.0.8 installer for macOS (Intel only)
  2. Install VirtualBox
  3. Go to macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General, and click the Allow button:

    macOS install

If you get an error when launching Genymotion Desktop, reboot your Mac.
